Strade Bianchi and our longest day
So far, all the rides have been out the gates and turn left down the hill. This morning we turned right and within a few km’s we hit the white roads of the strade bianchi. I have never ridden gravel before, so this was a brand-new experience.

New location, same weather, as yet another sunny morning greeted us with a superb Alfresco breakfast. Our cook did not speak a word of English but could not have been more attentive to our needs as she cooked up eggs any way we wanted.

The start of the ride was the same as the first day’s ride but after 13km we branched off to head towards Siena.

Tuscany day two, a three-hour cycle route to the Tuscan village of Castellina So many long climbs and so many long flowing descents through the hilly Tuscan region littered with vineyards and small hilltop villages.
After the settle-in ride of day 1, A spectacular sunny morning greeted us for our first full day ride of the tour. After a sumptuous breakfast of pretty much anything we wanted and a couple of espresso’s we all got kitted up in our A’qto riding gear and headed off around 9:30am.

Our day began with a fast train from Milan to Florence where we were picked up by our bike-riding tour company A’qto and driven an hour to our base for the next three days Gaiole in Chianti. Our accommodation was a very impressive B&B up a hill from the town center.

We were staying in a gite on the banks of the Canal du Midi in a small town, Marseillette, which is just 15 km from the historic city of Carcassonne. Towpaths run alongside the canal providing a very pleasant walk, or in our case, a very pleasant cycle along the Canal du Midi.

The West Maui loop is one of the must-do rides for road cyclists when visiting Maui. It is a magnificent coastal ride around West Maui. You will ride along major highways (bike-friendly lanes thankfully), two-way suburban and rural roads, and even single-lane roads – be careful!
